What to Expect at Indoor Soccer on Sundays

The instructor-led programs will run once-a-week in the gymnasiums at Sir Oliver Mowat CI, 5400 Lawrence Avenue East. The gym entrance is around the back of the school, door #7, near the parking lot that is accessible from Charlottetown Blvd.

Each soccer session will be 1-hour in length and consist of soccer skills and games. Staff will be at gym for check-in up to 15 minutes before program start. Parents are required to check in their children for each session with the staff member designated as the Field Marshal.

Each session has soccer activities organized around a common theme.  There are usually 4 to 6 activities each session, with game-based activities towards the end of the session.

  • Players are required to wear shin guards, regardless of age, gender, or ability.
  • Running shoes are acceptable footwear; basketball shoes are not recommended for indoor soccer. Indoor-specific soccer shoes are allowed but not mandatory. Outdoor cleats or turf shoes are not permitted on the gymnasium floor.
  • No jewelry is to be worn while playing soccer and is to be removed prior to the start of each session.
  • Players are to remove hats, sunglasses and any other items deemed unsafe for soccer; cultural & religious coverings, such as head scarfs and kippahs, are allowed by Ontario Soccer.
  • A uniform and ball will be provided to each child on the first day. After the first day, please ensure your child wears the uniform provided, and the ball distributed to your child is pumped and sent with them to every session.
  • Food is NOT allowed in the gymnasiums, and any liquids must be in containers with a lid or cap.
  • Please note that we do not have “teams”, as all of the training sessions are based on group activities for the same age group. Players are provided different colour jerseys for the purposes of running activities only.

The following action items apply to all programs:

1.Please review the COVID questions below BEFORE you bring your child to soccer. Anyone (parent or player) who answers YES to any of the questions below should NOT attend the session:

  • Does the player, or the parent/guardian bringing their child to soccer, have any symptoms such as Fever, Cough, Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing?
  • Is the player, or the parent/guardian bringing their child to soccer, currently being investigated as a suspected case of COVID-19?
  • Has the player, or the parent/guardian bringing their child to soccer, tested positive for COVID-19 within the last 10 days and experiencing COVID symptoms?

2. After ensuring that your child is in the appropriate gymnasium and under the supervision of their coach for the session, no parents should be on the gym’s playing surface (the “field”).

If your child needs any assistance on the field, we have staff to help in these situations. If for any other reason you need to enter the field to assist your child, please ask the coach and/or wait for the coaches’ signal to enter the field. We are required to limit the contact between players, coaches and those outside of their soccer groups (including parents/guardians outside of their household).

Please contact the Club Office during weekday (Monday through Thursday) business hours 10am-3pm with any questions.
