The West Rouge SC Under 18 Girls Interclub team recently won the Championship with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Pickering in the finals. The division had U18G teams from Pickering and Ajax, with all teams competing since May. The West Rouge team, coached by Shamar Marshall and Sean McManus, was a combination of 16, 17 and 18 year old players. The team's season got off to an uneven start, including two losses in a row to Pickering who started off very strong. However, through hard work at practice the team came together to finally beat the Pickering team 3-2 mid-season and went on to go undefeated the rest of the season including the playoffs.

The team finished 12-2 in the regular season, earning them a trophy for the first place finish. The playoff format was a round robin, with the West Rouge SC 18 Girls advancing to the finals with wins of 1-0, 3-0, and 1-0. In the finals against Pickering, the West Rouge U18G team scored just two minutes into the game and hung on to win with excellent teamwork by all players, from forwards & midfielders who kept the pressure up, to the disciplined defenders who maintained shape, and excellent efforts from the two goal keepers who were able to keep a 4-game shut-out streak going.

Coaches Shamar & Sean  would like to thank all of the players & parents for their tremendous support all season.
